Acupressure is an ancient Chinese therapy that uses finger and thumb pressure on specific points of the body. The stimulation and holding of these points triggers and regulates the flow of energy or qi within the meridians or energy channels of the body, which in turn helps to balance the complete energy system of the body.
Aromatic Acupressure and Meridian Massage is another dimension of Oriental Aromatherapy. Developed by Gabriel Mojay's Institute of Traditional Medicine and Aromatherapy, Acupressure (or Meridian) Massage is based on the manual stimulation of the body's Meridian system - the same network of vital energy channels used in Acupuncture.
When combined with individually selected essential oils, Acupressure Massage becomes Aromatic Acupressure. It is the therapeutic application of specific essential oils to the Organ Meridians and Acupoints of Oriental Medicine, and emphasises the energetic nature of their actions.
Aromatic Acupressure may be applied as part of a full massage treatment or as part of selective or localised treatment. The client receives a blend to take away for self-application as part of their ongoing self-care.
